Chapter 13

Luke lunged half-upright, his elbows popping beneath him, and blinked hard, forcing himself to understand these unfamiliar surroundings. Everything was dark. Then the sound of breathing filtered into his ears. Not his own.

Luke’s eyes shifted over to a deeply slumbering Aaron and he smiled. He swallowed and sat fully upright, gazing out the big bay window overlooking the city. It wasn’t the best part of the city. His eyes tilted to Aaron, then away, and he swung his legs over the side of the bed. He had to keep smothering this instinct to treat Aaron differently. Yes, they had just had sex, and are you kidding? With the accent and the glasses and the way he was obsessed with doing the best job that had ever been done? Who wouldn’t get into bed with him?

But he barely knew anything about him.

Luke leaned down and plucked his clothes from the floor. It would be better to slip out now. The notebook was underneath his pants. Luke had only meant to glance, but the first thing he saw was the name Jason Larkdale. He examined it more closely. The page was filled with information about Jason and his affair with Luke. How long it lasted, why it ended, how Luke had felt about it.

Feeling dizzy, Luke flipped to another page in the notebook and swallowed.

Luke McAllister is friendly and down-to-earth. It’s hard to believe someone went crazy about him to the point that she was arrested. He doesn’t date often. He’s not very aggressive, though he is firm.

What the fuck was this?

Luke got dressed faster now, snatching up the notebook as he departed.
